RHYTHM WORLD STUDENT CONCERT-II

A second, Rhythm World student concert was showcased on Sunday the 23 rd of September. The items on show comprised many styles of dance - such as Rumba, Samba, Salsa, Jive, Belly Dancing, Hip Hop, Kandyan and Bollywood.

It was an exciting event on Sunday the 29 th of July, as the students of Rhythm World held a student concert showcasing many styles of dance - including Latin American, Belly Dancing, Hip Hop, Modern, Kandyan and Bollywood dance styles for members of Rhythm World.

The event started with a Kandyan dance item, followed by a romantic rumba, a modern waltz, an energetic cha cha, an electrifying hip hop routine, and ended with a sizzling Brazilian style samba performed by all the young students.

The compere was Dananjaya Hettiarachchi who livened things up with his witty jokes and amusing anecdotes. The performers were students currently competing in Latin American and Ballroom Championships, so as to raise funds and enable them to compete overseas.


“Rhythm of Life”, an evening of music and dance, became a reality on May 16 th , at the British School Auditorium . 40 dancers from Rhythm World, performed at this event, which was eagerly awaited by all dance lovers. There were 15 dance items choreographed by ShiromI Perera and her students. This collaborative exercise, designed to showcase their versatility, was one of the highlights of the concert. The dance forms ranged from Latin and ballroom to contemporary, freestyle, hip-hop, Kandyan, Broadway & Indian/Thamil. The last item was a jazzy medley from “Grease”.

Another exciting feature of the show was that several guest artists such as Noeline Honter, Ann Nathan, Umaria and Umara, Soundarie David and her choral group Soul Sounds accompanied by Christopher Prins, and Sohan and the Experiments graced the occasion. The evergreen Sohan and his talented band backing many of the items for the evening and no doubt kept the audience entertained with their lively, toe-tapping music.
